Tasty Tuesday (NYC Edition)

Happy Tuesday!

Over the weekend I went into the City with my dad for a Daddy/Daughter Date! :) We decided to take the day to do some exploring around the Upper West Side.

One of mine and my dad's favorite things to do it eat lol! We LOVE trying out new places and new foods! We are definitely foodies!

For lunch we decided to try out a Vegan restaurant that I had heard a lot about, Blossom. There are a few different locations through out the city. We went to the one on Columbus Avenue. Let me tell you this place was worth the wait!! The interior was so pretty! Very warm and inviting.

First we ordered some drinks. My dad decided on a Mint Julep. As I was looking at the drink menu trying to figure out what to order, I saw this drink and it had my name written all over it! ;)

How perfect!! Not only did they look pretty, they tasted even better! Cheers!

Now for the important part, deciding what to eat! :) Everything on the menu sounded amazing! I wanted to order one of everything lol!

Now my dad isn't a vegetarian, but he is game to try anything. So if this food passed his meat eating palette then I knew it would be a win. I decided on the Vegetable Lasagna and my dad went with the Seitan Scaloppini and we agreed to split our dishes with each other.

Vegetable Lasagna

Seitan Scaloppini

Well dad approved!! The food was just absolutely incredible! I was a little sad when my plate was empty :( lol I wanted more! But we had to save room for coffee and dessert.

We decided to share the Orange Creme Brûlée. We couldn't eat it fast enough! I was so good! As my dad said "You would have never known it was vegan!"

After walking around for a good four hours, we needed a little pick-me-up. Off to Starbucks we went.

Tall iced PSL with coconut milk ;) Dad got a Salted Caramel Latte :)

Last but not least, after a little more walking around, we had to end the day with a stop at
Momofuku Milk Bar. We had to try their popular CerealMilk Ice Cream.
It really lived up to the hype! It tastes like the milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl but in ice cream form! I got the regular version and my dad got the CerealMilk Affogato which was the ice cream drenched in espresso ;)

We had such a great day! I can't wait to do it again!

Let me know what you like to do on your Daddy/ Daughter or Mommy/Daughter dates! You're never too old to spend time with your mom and dad. Whose else knows you like they do! ;)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Take a trip to the Farmacy (Mirror Mirror Monday)

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Here in New York we were definitely experiencing sweater weather! Yay Fall! :)

Today I wanted to tell you all about a great company I just discovered at Sephora. The brand is called Farmacy and it brings the whole idea of farm-to-table right into your skincare routine.

As I have mentioned in a past blog, I have been a vegetarian/vegan for the past 11 years. Having a clean and healthy diet is so important to me and I try to reflect those lifestyle choices into my beauty routine as well. In learning about the Farmacy brand, I loved the whole concept of taking the wonderful nutrients found in food and using them to benefit your skin.

Started in Upstate New York, Farmacy is a brand that goes by the slogan, Farmer Cultivated, Scientist Activated. What an ingenious concept! What makes the band so unique is the powerful Echinacia GreenEnvy that is found in every single one of their products. This rare flower was discovered by the co-founder Mark Veeder at his home in upstate New York a few years ago. He shortly discovered all of the powerful benefits that this little flower had to offer particularly for the skin.

Aside form the GreenEnvy echinacea found in the products, produce such as kale, carrots, rhubarb, and broccoli are incorporated into the line as well. I decided to try a few of these products out for myself.

Inside the lip bloom box there is a little background on the company, a very clever use of space.
In being "The Strawberry Blond" I just had to try out the strawberry basil scent ;) Such a light and hydrating consistency and the smell was so intoxicating!

I also purchased the New Dawn Mask Medley. These gel masks are made with hydrating coconut gel and are infused with different veggies to provide various benefits for the skin. I chose to do the brightening mask which had purple broccoli in it. The purple broccoli works as an anti-inflammatory agent and helps to brighten the skins complexion.

The thin silk mask felt nice and cool on my face and smelt so yummy. I left it on for 20 minutes and let it work its magic.

The mask really helped to even out my skin's complexion and my face felt so plump and hydrated once I took the mask off. I followed up by apply the Sleep Tight Night Balm to my face. It starts off as a solid balm but once I warmed it up between my fingers, it took on more of an oil consistently and smoothed out nice and evenly over my skin.

I finished things off by applying the Lip Bloom to my lips and off to bed I went.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I love being able to share new and exciting products that are not only good for the planet but good for you as well.

Let me know in the comments below if you would like me to review any more Farmacy products.

Now I lay me down to sleep.......

I close my eyes and count some sheep ;)

Happy FriYay everyone!

Today's post is going to be a quick little round up of what I like to do to unwind after a long day/week in order to get to sleep. (haha that rhymed)

I love to set the mood and light some soothing candles like this yummy Marshmallow Fireside candle from Bath & Body Works. I'll also play some smooth jazz tunes on my iPad and hop into a nice warm shower.

While I'm in the shower I love to use this Stress Relief body scrub. The scent of eucalyptus essential oil helps to clear my mind after a long day and the spearmint essential oil scent helps to brighten my mood. After my shower I slather on this Sleep lavender chamomile body cream. The lavender and chamomile essential oil scents really help to relax and quiet my mind and help me get ready for bed.

Next I'll make myself a nice cup of ginger tea.

I like to make my own tea by combining 1/4 tsp. of organic ground ginger, one packet of organic Stevia, 1 Tbs. of fresh lime juice and add that to 12 oz. of boiling water. It's a nice way to warm up on these cool Fall nights and the ginger is a great way to settle my tummy at night.

Then finally I get all comfy in bed, curl up with my hot cup of ginger tea and settle in for a bedtime story ;) Reading helps to quiet my mind and after about an hour, my eyes are ready to shut and then I'm off to dreamland.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments below how you like to relax and unwind after a long week.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

These are a few of my favorite things......

Happy Thursday everyone!
One more day to go! #TGIT ;)

One of my favorite things I like to do is try out new, hot, and trendy beauty products. I'll spend hours on the internet watching beauty videos and reading product reviews just trying to learn all there is to know about the beauty market. One of the best places to go and find out about these products is Sephora. It is my home away from home! ;)

I really benefit from Sephora's Beauty Insider Program. For every dollar that I spend, I earn points that I can accumulate to use in their Rewards Boutique. This is the perfect way for me to try out some products that maybe I have heard some great things about, but may not want to take the plunge to purchase the full size product.

My most recent trip to Sephora for my Make Up Forever Ultra HD Foundation resulted in one fantastic discovery! I had around 800 points to use so I decided to go for one of the 500 point rewards. It was the Origins Radiance-Boosting Bests Set. OH have I fallen in LOVE!!!

I am BIG on skincare. It is so important to take care of and protect your skin, so when I saw this set I knew I had to try it out! I have known and heard a lot about Origins over the years but have never tried anything by them. As a result of this set, I fully intend on purchasing the full sized items once I run out of the samples. Here's what comes in the box.

First up is the Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. I am OBSESSED with this face wash! I feel like I am washing my face with whipped cream! The formula is perfect in that it helps to get rid of any excess oil but also helps to hydrate dry skin as well. The full size wash retails for $22. I love washing my face in the morning with this.  It's a great way to refresh my face after a good night's sleep.

Next up is the Modern Friction Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion. This scrub is great to use two to three times a week to help remove any dry skin and really give your face a deep cleanse. The full size retails for $39.50. I love using this in the shower because the steam from the hot water helps to open my pores and the scrub can really get down deep to clean my skin.

Now that my skin is all fresh and clean, it's time to treat it. The first step in applying treatment creams should always be your eye cream. This works as a barrier and helps to prevent any face cream or serum from seeping up and burning your eyes. The GinZing Refreshing Eye cream helps to de-puff and reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. The full size retails for $30. This definitely comes in handy when I have to get up early for work. ;)

The last step and final item in the set is the High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral Enriched Renewal Cream. This night cream helps to gently resurface and replenish your skin's moisture levels to help you wake up glowing. The refreshing orange smell brings me into a relaxed state, ready to jump into bed and let the cream work its magic! This product made the whole set. It is a 1 oz. sample and the full size is only .7 oz. larger. So you're pretty much getting this $43 cream for free!! AMAZING!

This set is probably one of the best Rewards I have ever gotten from Sephora. If you have the points I would highly recommend redeeming this Reward! Even if you don't have the points, I would definelty suggest you try out these products for yourself.

I hope you all enjoyed this post!

What are some of your favorite skincare products? Let me know in the comments below :)

Have a great day!

What I Eat in a Week (Tasty Tuesday)

In this week's edition of Tasty Tuesday, I am doing a food haul to show you what a week's worth a food looks like for me.

I have been a vegetarian for a little over 10 years and over the past two years I've really gotten into health and nutrition. I follow a nutrition plan that has really taught me how to feed and fuel my body the right way. Before that I thought that because I was a vegetarian and wasn't eating certain foods that it was okay for me to eat sweets and junk and that as long as there wasn't any meat or fish in what I was eating it was fair game. In having that mentality I made poor diet choices and weighted probably about 25 lbs. more than what I do now. I was also always getting sick because my body lacked the proper vitamins and nutrients it needed to keep me healthy.

After getting sick with Shingles one year I knew it was time to make a change. I needed to switch up everything I was doing and get myself healthy. I learned how, what, and when to eat in order to keep my body working and feeling it's best. I eat about 5 times a day, so meal prep is VERY important for me. Preparation is the key to success!

I do a majority of my food shopping at my local health food store. There are some items that I prefer to get at Shop Rite or Stop & Shop just because the prices are a little better on some of the items such as milk, yogurt and Larabars.

Here's a look at some of the items I bought this weekend.

The health food store I go to has an EXCELLENT salad bar. I love getting their prepared foods because it's less work for me to do in prepping my meals for the week. I just scoop out a serving size for lunch and dinner and I'm good to go.

If you would a more in depth post about what I eat for each meal, let me know in the comments and I will try and do a post that's a little more detailed for you. :)
