Hope Chest DIY

Thursday, October 1

Happy Thursday everyone!

It is officially October! The countdown to Halloween has begun!

This month I plan on showing you some tips and tricks to get you inspired and ready for Halloween!
Today I had my momma help me out with a DIY project in my room. Granted this has nothing to do with Halloween but it is a little Fall room inspiration. The leaves are changing on the trees and I wanted to do a little redecorating in my room. Sometimes the simplest of changes can make the biggest difference.

This is the Hope chest that I have at the end of my bed. I use it as extra storage for my clothes. I had refurbished this many years ago. It was a dark wood that I had primed and painted white and used an old soft blanket to cover the cushion. After a few years of wear and tear, the fabric on the seat started to look a little warn. So I decided to reupholster the cushion with a simple piece of fabric. Here are some pictures of the process.

It's a very simple process. Just think of it like you're wrapping a gift. Lay out the correct size fabric and use a staple gun to securely attach the material to the board.

VIOLA! Here's the finished project!

This simple fix gave the Hope chest a brand new look and helped to brighten up my room.

I hope you all enjoyed today's post! Stay tuned for more tips and trick throughout the month!
